... The idea of a social movement fighting for the rights of ordinary citizens back in 1997. Created at the initiative of compound Electoral Action Solidarity (AWS), which brings together some 50 smaller opposition groups drawn from social movement Solidarity 80s, won the elections in September 1997 and formed a government in coalition with the Freedom Union. 2000 marked the collapse of the coalition with the UW and the slow decay of the AWS.

2001 election was the defeat - the ruling party has not introduced any candidate for parliament. Solidarity changed the interior and the authorities decided to separate from politics and devote to union activities.
